The apartment is located on the first floor of a 16th-century building near the Rialto Bridge, overlooking the Grand Canal, in front of the splendid Ca’ d’Oro.

Staying here means enjoying an enchanting and unique view of the Grand Canal, right in front of the Ca’ d’Oro, in a place that is off the beaten track while also being adjacent to the historic Rialto market, which is full of life and colours. Here you can experience a holiday immersed in Venice’s most authentic charm, enjoying its beauty and the possibility of either dining in one of the many restaurants and osterias in the surrounding area, or preparing and tasting typical Venetian cuisine yourself, by taking advantage of the fresh produce from the nearby market.

Apartment Description

Recent restorations of the apartment have preserved the old structure: the floors in ancient solid wood, the original ceiling beams, the traces of old stones and exposed bricks. It has also been equipped with heating, air conditioning, WiFi and satellite TV.

The functional and extensive furnishings are warm and comfortable.

The very large and bright living room, with a dining table and sitting area, looks out through two large arched windows onto the Grand Canal and through another window onto Calle Boteri.

The spacious kitchen with a large window overlooking Calle Boteri is equipped with all the appliances you need: oven, microwave, large hob, dishwasher, small appliances and a washing machine and dryer.

The bedroom has a large double bed, which can be separated into two single beds on request. In the large living room there is another pull-out bed from the sofa.

The bathroom has a large shower.

Under the living room windows runs the “Fondamenta dell’Ogio” or “Olio”: here barrels carrying precious cargo used to be unloaded from the Grand Canal. The premises on the ground floor of the building were “fondaghi” for the storage and sale of food. The “boteri” aslo had to build and repair the barrels for the oil, which was unloaded and sold on the nearby shore, overlooking the Grand Canal.

There is private access to the property from Calle dei Boteri, number 1628, in the San Polo district, with an exclusive entrance on the ground floor.

Places to visit nearby

In addition to the Ca’ d’Oro, there are many other attractions nearby, which are reachable by gondola on the Grand Canal from the adjacent market. These include the delightful medieval church of San Giacometto, the oldest in Venice; the Rialto Bridge; the beautiful Campo San Polo, surrounded by impressive Gothic and classical buildings, as well as the remarkable church; the Basilica of Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari, one of the most significant in Venice, with numerous artworks, including the “Assunta” by Tiziano Vecellio and the tomb of Canova; the School of San Rocco displaying the work of Tintoretto; and the School of San Giovanni Evangelista.

Piazza San Marco is nearby: cross the Rialto bridge and follow the Mercerie streets up to the Clock Tower.

How to get to

To get to Calle Boteri you can take public transport (vaporetto line 1) and get off at the Rialto-Mercato stop. Another option (during the day only) is the public gondola ferry, which connects the Strada Nova (near the Ca’ d’Oro) and the Rialto market.
